Hey everyone! ✨ Ever feel like your brain’s volume Hey everyone! ✨
Ever feel like your brain’s volume knob is stuck at 11? You are definitely not alone, and science is finally giving us the validation we deserve!
At this year’s Migraine World Summit, Dr. Amaal Starling shared a game-changing perspective that perfectly connects the dots between migraine attacks and anxiety.

The Sensory Processing Connection
Dr. Starling explained that migraine is a neurological disease that results in abnormal sensory processing. Essentially, the migraine brain is often hyper-reactive & lacks the built-in filter to tune out everyday stimuli.
Because of this, regular environments can quickly trigger intense sensory overload:
* Bright lights and flashing screens.
* Loud sounds or ambient chatter.
* Physical movement and motion.
* Strong scents and perfumes.
* Barometric pressure and weather shifts.
* Temperature spikes or drops.
* Vibrations from traffic or machinery.

From Overload to Anxiety
When your brain is constantly bombarded by these unpeeled inputs, it gets overwhelmed. To protect itself, the migraine brain activates its survival instincts and plunges straight into a physical “fight or flight” state.
That sudden wave of anxiety you feel? It is not a personal flaw. It is your nervous system reacting to physical sensory overload. Your body is simply trying to keep you safe from a world that feels too loud, too bright, and too intense.
Understanding this connection is incredibly empowering. It means your anxiety isn’t just “in your head”—it is a physiological response to a neurological event. Be kind to your over-responsive, hard-working brain today! 🧠💪

🚨 Early signs of a migraine attack (prodrome phase 🚨 Early signs of a migraine attack (prodrome phase) can appear up to 24 hours before the attack itself. Symptoms might include uncontrollable yawning, fatigue, stiff neck, food cravings, increased thirst/urination, and mood changes like irritability or depression. Other warning signs include numbness, tinnitus, dizziness, insomnia, visual disturbances, difficulty concentrating, and sensitivity to light or sound.

Key Subtle Early Warning Signs (Prodrome Phase)
These symptoms occur before the attack phase and are often missed or ignored:
Frequent Yawning: An intense, often uncontrollable need to yawn.
Neck Stiffness/Pain: A common early warning, often mistaken for sleeping in a wrong position.
Mood Changes: Unexplained shifts such as sudden depression, anxiety, irritability, or euphoria.
Food Cravings: Sudden cravings, particularly for carbohydrates or sweets like chocolate.
Physical Fatigue & Fluid Retention: Generalized lethargy or feeling swollen.
Increased Thirst and Urination: A sign of bodily changes preceding an attack.
Cognitive Difficulty: Trouble concentrating, finding words, or a feeling of being “spaced out”.

Hi everyone! 👋 Have you heard of the Migraine Wor Hi everyone! 👋

Have you heard of the Migraine World Summit (MWS)?

Each year, the summit brings together leading headache specialists to talk about migraine disease, the latest research, and treatment options. It’s one of our favorite educational resources. We always learn something new, and sometimes I even bring the interview summaries to my doctor so we can talk through ideas together.

The 2026 Migraine World Summit is free to watch live from March 11–18, with (4) 30‑minute expert interviews released each day. If you’d like more time and flexibility, you can also order an Access Pass for extended, on‑demand access.

Access Passes unlock full‑length interviews, transcripts, audio downloads, one‑page summaries, and much more—so you can revisit key sessions, catch anything you miss, and learn at your own pace!

I’ll drop the link to register in stories and in bio. We’ve been watching since the early years, and it’s been a valuable resource for learning more about migraine. Migraine education is so empowering and information learned at the summit is truly what helped give me my life back!

PS: Early bird pricing ends on March 11 at 3pmET. Prices increase after the summit starts. #migraineeducation #migraine #knowledgeispowerful #takeyourlifeback #migrainestrong
Having migraine often means our central nervous sy Having migraine often means our central nervous system is on hyper alert all day every day. Whether our hyper responsiveness is from the constant stimulus coming at us, reacting to trigger sensitivities, the full body assault of a migraine attack (and all the stages that comes before an after it) or the fear of when our next attack will hit, our nervous system is continually bombarded. But you can gain control! 💪

✨ 4 Small Healthy Habits that help bring BIG Relief! ✨
For a long time, I thought migraine attacks were just a random, uncontrollable part of my life. 😫 But after making some consistent, intentional shifts, I’ve managed to significantly cut down my frequency! 📉💃

If you are looking for ways to support your brain and feel more in control, here are the 4 habits that changed the game for me:
1️⃣ Ruthless Sleep Consistency ⏰: Going to bed and waking up at the same time (yes, even on weekends!) has been a miracle. My brain loves routine, and keeping a strict sleep schedule makes me much less reactive.
2️⃣ Hydration + Electrolytes 💧: I stop dehydration before it starts. I drink water steadily throughout the day and make sure I get enough electrolytes (especially sodium!) to keep my nervous system happy.
3️⃣ Supplement with magnesium and ginger for the win: 🏅 Think of magnesium a the calming mineral Take it to help soothe the excited pain pathway in the brain. Ginger can help ease, nausea, dizziness, and reduce neural inflammation.
4️⃣ Master Calmness: ✨ If you are experiencing chronic migraine, symptoms, mastering calmness should be your goal in life right now. It may sound silly, but it suits central sensitization, releases, endorphins, and eases symptoms. Ultimately lowering the frequency and intensity of migraine attacks so stand barefoot in the sunshine, practice deep breathing, become a plant caretaker or/andengage in a creative experience every chance you get.
Consistency > Perfection. Small changes add up, friends! 🚀
